Question 1187?

In all seriousness, I cant really afford a 1K + shotgun but Im really needing a good semi auto for wingshooting.

Is the 1187 ok for this?

Are there better options for the same money or little more?

What about bbl length? Choke?

It will work fine. I would shoot your current gun though if it were me. Give it a good cleaning and it will shoot any shell you feed in it. Save your money and shoot the 870. Just shoot your factory modified choke.

An 1187 will do the job just fine Ryan.

I would get a 26 or 28" bbl, and chokes will differ depending on where/what/what ammo you are shooting.

Of course you already have the 870 and it will do the job just fine as well.

Except for low brass dove loads

I think there is a simple fix for that though.......I read about it somewhere. Polishing the chamber I think.

The Supermags are plagued with this issue. They do NOT like low brass shells. Turkey loads feed and eject just fine.

Had a helluva problem on the last dove hunt and had to wind up using a loaner from Farr.

ryan, you dont NEED a semi auto. the pumps are fine, and most people cant shoot a semi auto any faster than a pump, ACCURATELY. sue, its easy enough to 'boom, boom, boom', as they say...but, the rounds that miss...they dont count. nothing at all wrong with a pumpgun. also, i wouldnt overlook a double, either, if you want a true 'birdgun'. some of the guys i duck hunt with use doubles, and they do just fine with them. i am in the mood to get me a nice 20 gauge side by side, i think.

The 1187 is a great gun. I loved mine until the freak malfunction. Although it will probably never happen again with that gun,I just couldn't keep it. Farr got a great deal on a sweet shooting gun.

That would help. Possibly a stronger extractor spring too. I will come by and get it if you want me too
