Default Dead bird

Killed this one yesterday in Troup, Old bird with thick beard and long spurs.

Killed him after a 3 hour chase on a blind hill on the gasline. Popped his head up over the rise and I dropped him.

Here is the bird and where he died.

It was wide open yesterday and dead as a door nail today. I heard 0 gobbles this morning compared to all morning long yesterday. I only saw one longbeard at about 300 yards today. Pretty sure when I called to him, he gave me the finger as he waddled across the gasline.

Congrats Tim! I didn't hear a single bird yesterday or today in Hancock county. Decent amount of sign so I'm wondering if the loud mouths got killed opening weekend and only the smart birds are left?

Everyone is bitching because there has been virtually no gobbling yet all season. James and I heard at least 5 different birds at Dalton. 4 of those 5 only gobbled once or twice from the tree. my bird gobbled all morning long, all the way to his death. we are all pretty sure he was a 3 year old bird.

The weather is f*cked up. That may play a big part. Hell one morning, theres a hard frost, the next morning the lows are in the 60s.

I’ve called in 7 gobblers this season.

Called in one at 7:30pm on Saturday of youth afternoon. Lane couldn’t get on him good enough to shoot.

Sunday am, I called in 3 gobblers that were together. They were 25yds away and I was telling Lane to shoot, shoot, shoot! He said he couldn’t see them... A Bush was in the way.....??? I could see them fine!! I leaned down to his level and a wax myrtle had all three birds covered up... They never came out from behind it.......and walked off.... I can’t believe I didn’t pay attention to that when I sat us down on that tree.....

Lane wanted to sleep in opening day of regular season... Called in a pair of longbeards. Killed one of them. The next afternoon, called in a lone gobbler and killed him.

Went this past Saturday am with Lane. Heard two gobbling from the roost. Had another hunter get in front of us.. I didn’t push the situation since I had Lane with me. Backed off and tried to get on the other bird, but he went silent before I could get a good position on him.

I’ve heard gobbling out the ass this season.

I’m not bitching. LoL. I just wanted to kill one this week while family is on spring break and I finally have some free mornings to go.

Nice work Timmy. I'll eventually go I guess. Haven't really been yet. Kinda went once, but it was with nick so it wasn't too serious. This baseball shit is getting in the way
