A couple of my buddies have a well and it seems as though they have expensive issues every few years.
Dang thats cheap! My water&sewer bill runs 38.00 - 45.00 a month through the City.

Are you on a sewer system or septic? If sewer, you can double the normal cost.

If your not on sewer, then I would guess, it's just runs higher

A few years ago before they started sending an envelop to mail the payment, my bill was $14.xx and would jump to $18.xx at the end of the quarter. I guess including the envelop costs me $6 a month

Sewer, but thats only 7.00 a month. The rest varies based on water usage.

Unless your well is different it can only be 1 or more of those thing I said. Is there a small bladder tank between the house and the well? Sometimes the pressure will leak out of it and so the switch will not know to start the pump.

Or the bladder could sink to the bottom of the tank (usually this would take several days where the water is not used). You can bump the solenoid to get the bladder back to the correct orientation, but be very careful with this. A friend of my Dad's was electrocuted and killed and while doing this when he accidentally shorted across the 220.

Just got the word. The pump is shot. Quoted $1400-1800 to fix it. Pretty bummed as that was a big bulk of what I had set aside to get my wife and son down here. Y'all keep an eye on the classifieds in the coming months...

Why so much? I just had my pump replaced last year after 27 years on the first one and I think we paid the guy much less then half that pump and labor he was here less then 45 minutes for the whole job and checked the pressure on my bladder tank as well. You must have one heck of a pump system up there. Good luck with it.

See if the well guy has a rebuilt pump he will sell you cheaper.

The type of pump was a big reason but also the control box shorted and the wires had to be replaced. Not to mention the well was 170' deep I think he said. They were there about 6 hours total.
