However in this case it almost like the dog is scared of the bird.
Well, I tried.

Educate me here. If the dog is being forced shouldn't you be sound with one object bf moving to another?

I would think if the dog knows the command and how to turn the pressure off then .it wouldn't matter if it was a snake the should pick it up.

I was talking to a pro the other day about problem dogs, he said "son life is too short to F with bad dogs, just wash it and get a new one".

Just thought I would pass that along...

i would do like ron said and hammer down on what she'll do for a while longer. i dont think she gets it if she wont transition to whatever else you put in front of her. we know sometimes dogs do what we want because theyve figured that part out but at the end of the day theyre cutting corners if you will.

seems like most dogs i have been around just get plumb excited when a real bird is entered into the equation. especially a live one. i think if it were me, i would keep on trying with bumpers/rollers, until she had that down pat...then i would try some live birds. if the dog still refused to pick up a live bird, under pressure...chit, i dunno. maybe you could make a blood trailing dog out of her? or, send her to be some kids pet? i tend to agree with what hollywood said...life is too short.

however, i'm betting that wes keeps working the dog, and overcomes the challenge. that is my prediction, for what its worth.

it some serious hunt test type games. Nasty set ups, lots of pressure, but they use ATB Type duck dummies.
