Browning designed the 1911....he was just working for colt back then. As long as they are stamped "made in the USA" that's pretty murican

Meh. Colt = paying extra for a name Im not saying they arent fine weapons because they are. Im saying there are 1911s and ARs out there that do the same job just as good for less money.

I would have put my plain jane Springer GI up against any Colt made in all areas except looks.

JMO.

Not used ones!

I like the Springfield GI but like all older GI style, if you shoot one with good sights you won't want to go back to the GI tiny sights. You'll be much faster finding that front sight. The beavertail also keeps you from getting slide bite if you hold the pistol high (where you should). I have an old OD green Springfield Loaded full size that is a great pistol. I replaced the full length guide rod with a plain plug but otherwise it's been great. Sits in my desk drawer.
