I have been doing some research lately on half ton pickups. I have always owned gm and had a ford f250 company truck one time. I'm getting a f150 with the ecoboost. Watch out for what rear end they have in it. Some have a 3.73 which is good for pulling but sucked for gas mileage. The ford has alot more room than the crew cab gm trucks. Im going next month and order my new truck which will be here by the first of the year with what I want on it. I took a new f150 home last weekend with the ecoboost and drove it to Shellman's bluff for a wedding. Averaged 23 on the interstate but sucked in town.

I have heard a lot of farmers in ms. Who have ecoboost engines don't like em. If I were you I would not go with anything other than a 3:73 in a half ton truck. The z71 I had was a 3:34 or something and I hated it. Jumped in and out of overdrive on every little rise in the road and wouldn't pull a greasy string out of a chicken's ass. And it never got over 16 pr 17 mpg because the engine was working so hard to make the rear end work.

I wouldn't be pulling anything very much other than a trailer and 4 wheeler. It would mainly just be a vehicle to call on customers and some hunting. If that makes a difference in engine I need.

Had one of those years ago as a company vehicle. The Subaru Forester I think. Hated that thing

Not sure I'd would buy a new one anyway. Maybe something with 40 or50 thousand miles and trade it in every 2 years or so on another

i love my tacoma. if you want something to put miles on, that is what i would look at. i average 26 on the interstate, and 19ish around town as long as i keep my foot out of it. if i push it, i get 16 around town, and its plenty peppy. i pull trailers and boats and it handles it just fine.
