Default Chickens...

Think I'm going to try it again. The house at the end of our road has a few and my son is begging us to get some. Going to start building the coop this weekend. Hopefully it works out better than the last time I tried.

Planning to build a 4'x5' coop with a small run under the same roof, total will be 4'x8'. Then I'll get a chain link kennel for the rest of the run. Planning on 4-5 chickens, should be plenty.

I tried my hand at it about 5 years ago. Had several weeks of nonstop rain and some sort of parasite killed them. Not sure Iíll raise them from chicks this time, I may just buy adult birds.

Found a guy pretty close to the house that builds coops. I may go that route because he can build one cheaper than I can.

Southeast GA Backyard Chicken Coops on Facebook.

I've got a handful here at the house. I got them for bug control and they are better than the Orkin man. We had a terrible problem with scorpions and they have cured that in a hurry. I coop mine at night and let them out in the morning when I head to work. The eggs are a great bonus.
