Default 2019 Sika Hunt

Fun week down on the shore. Between tropical storm Melissa pushing water up the bay and a full moon for some incredible tides, 20 - 30mph winds on Wednesday- Thursday it made for an interesting weather week. but it was a great week.

The first pic is my drive to Blackwater on Saturday - the hardest part is staying on the road. The other pics are from the campground, talk about water front camping

The prop on my boat is in the water, another foot and I could launch from my parking spot

Tuesday afternoon I hunted a spot I found years ago but never hunted (should have ) It's a really thick spot that you could only see 40 yards from that from the tree, I could hear deer walking in the water for about 30 minutes before this old 4 point came walking in. 14 yard shot and he ran 25 yards then piled up

Friday hunting a mile back in the marsh I had this 6 point whitetail walk by - in 20 years of hunting in this area I have never seen a whitetail so I had to shoot him to prove to my hunting buddies that the did exist I shot him at 50 yards and he was nice enough to die next to my tree

Saturday morning out of the same tree (another spot I used to hunt - seems to be a theme lol) A little 5 pointer decided to come home with me

That looks like a cool hunt! I wouldn't mind doing that at some point. My brother lives in Richmond VA, how far is where you hunt from there?

Good food, a few snakes sunning them self's and I found this little hind dead - she had to have died the night before, no holes so I don't know what got her. If you zoom in and look at her eye it looks like she was scared to death. Just to show how small she was that's my size 11 boot

I might just take you up on that.

My brother has lived outside of Richmond for the last 2 years and it's been about that long since we've hunted together. I'd love to try something new.

Yes it was, but I did learn a lesson - whitetails are a lot bigger and heavier than sika - that was a long mile drag out of the marsh
