Default Anna Maria Fishing

Surprised the guys in our family with a charter during our family vacation. Goal was to target tarpon off the beach but we couldnít find a pod that wanted to play. Found a massive school of permit (50+) but had a 12í+ hammerhead run them off. Decided to finish the day on a nearshore reef. Caught a giant snook before the goliaths showed up. Decided to chunk out some big baits and hand line a few. Ended up catching 3 in the 300-350# range and my newest BIL caught a baby at about 100#. All in all, a good day.

Thats a ****ing monster snook! One of the biggest Ive ever seen. I know they are out of season right now but did you measure it before you released?

Goliath grouper are cool but also scary in a way. Looks like a badass day on the water.

No we didn’t. Believe it or not, I caught that about 3 miles offshore. It was a long fight and she was struggling. We snapped a pic and got it back in the water to revive it before a Goliath could eat it. We had 3 others that size get eaten.

By far it was my biggest snook ever.

Yes they do.. they will eat every grouper & snapper off a small reef or wreck.. there should be a season on them again

There was talk of issuing limited permits to harvest them but the FWC voted against it. They need to do something cause they will clear a reef or wreck of almost all fish.
