Default Question for the teachers....

CRCT tests, waste of time or actually useful? My kid is finishing up with his today and it got me to thinking. What's ya'lls take on this?

I think we only have two teachers here at THE PLACE.

One teaches art.

The other one teaches math and doesn't know the difference between a 4 and 5.

Good point, but they both hang around real teachers, they might have picked up on something they said.

They teach in GA. That's impossible.

I've kinda figuring it's a waste of time and that the kids should be advanced on their grade merits alone, just something else to put pressure on the kids to check the teachers.

Well said.

I don't know too much about the CRCT since I have taught only high schoolers my entire career. We have our own fun tests...EOCT, GHSGT, etc. However, I do know that its a bit hypocritical for the GaDOE to preach "differentiated instruction" and then turn around and base a student's performance on a "standardized" test!

In FL they are called FCAT. I agree a waste of time. Teach the kids rather then prepare them for a test for weeks on end.

I have seen kids on honor roll all year and fail the CRCT test (by one question) and have to go to summer school to retake it... I think it is a waste of time.

My three kids start taking it next week.

I think if you don't score high enough on certain sections, you can't advance in certain grades.
