Shot a big buck this am and lost trail about 300 yds in. Called Mike Lopez at noon today and i was 5 th person in line. Had to attend a wedding and just got back. Apparently he had another call in Milledgeville also. Im waiting for him to call me back. Suppose to head in there tonight and try and recover him. Big 10pt with chocolate rack.

Thanks Steven. The shot was a little forward on a quatering away shot. Hit made a hitting a wet sack sound and then the sound of hitting a shoulder bone on opposite side. The arrow is still in the deer. Might be a one lung hit. Bled really well the first 100 yds. Just walked along following it. Then when he statrted following a open lane in the 5 th row thinning it became very difficult to follow blood on dirt and some pine straw. Most blood was on logs etc

Here is the story. I was hunting same trail along privet creek bottom that has a primary scrape on it. Most of my cam pics I posted of bucks use this trail. It was very uneventful on the 14 th until 920 am when a doe and yearling fed through. At 930 a spike and 3 pt cruised through. At 945 I had 3 does come in and I was about to draw my bow on a big one at 12 yds when I see a deer 40 yds away eating water oak acorns. I immediately see chocolate horns and well outside the ears. I stand up and waited on him for 5 mins. He finally turned broadside and I tried a 40 yd shot. Shot went right under him. He trots off. Few minutes later he comes back and walks right down the trail that comes by me at 20yds. He senses something and takes a side trail and is quartering away at 25 yds. Privet only gave me a 6 inch spot behind the shoulder but I needed to aim further back but couldn't. I decided to take shot I had. Apparently my arrow lodged in opposite shoulder as we never found the arrow. Lots of blood for 150 yds but got thinner as we went. Dog lost trail at creek and just couldn't seem to pick the trail back up. I'm now buzzard watching

Hunted same spot this am. Had 2 does come in just after daylight and that was it. Sat till 10 and pulled my card. Had a shooter come through at 530 this am and another decent buck yesterday at 550pm. Buck action has slowed but maybe a 2 nd rut will start up toward the end of Nov or early Dec
