Signed the lease today and spent most of the afternoon walking the property slowly. Most of the property is thick clear cut, with some 2yo pines. It's going to take some time with a brush cutter to open it up and then get a few food plots planted. Within 5 minutes of being there, I had already jumped 2 deer and a handful of wood ducks. There's a lot of promising sign on the property as well. Should be a fun time getting to know the new place!

That could be a good place, a lot will depend of the neighbors, but you can turn yours into a sanctuary

The neighbors are an industrial park and a few houses. I think it could be decent.

Sounding even better! Keep that powerline planted and baited and a stand on each side and it shouldn't be a problem killing deer

Been working on the new property over the last couple of weeks before it gets unbearably hot. This place is THICK. The best thing in the world would be for the landowner to burn it...

Regardless, I've worked on prepping a few spots and opening up some small kill plot locations. My new to me DR mower has been awesome. I've put out a couple of gravity feeders as well and a mineral site.

So, I spent a good deal of time mowing and spraying that food plot over the last few weeks. Doing it all manually, with a walk behind mower.

GA Power came through today with their giant mowers and cut the whole power line in about an hour.

Well I’m pissed.

As I mentioned, the power company mowed the full power line last week. Yesterday I get several pictures of folks riding the power line, one in a white SUV and then later a few people on four wheelers. Going to post more signs today.

I contacted the landowner to see if it was him. There’s been some drainage issues on the property so he has a forester looking to help clear up some of the ditches so that the water will drain. Mentioned it might be him in the SUV. Also mentioned that the forester has said that he’ll have to clear cut one of the two remaining blocks of timber on the property to get it done. So now on my 100 acre lease, I’ll be stuck to about a 4 acre block and a power line to hunt. There was no mention of further clearing when I signed the lease. I probably wouldn’t have gotten it if so...

Unless a real big buck shows up this Fall, I may be one and done with this property...

Yeh.............that would piss me off! We lease from a timber company and I know in the next two years the rest will be clearcut.........they did 400 as. 6 years ago.........800 ac. 2 years ago..........and most likely next year the remainder of the property that can be cut which is about 600 ac.........BUT I KNOW about it.
