We must be doing something right. We have 22 of 23 getting back in. And the other wants to if he can come up with the money. We also have two and possibly three former members getting back in. And how could it be bad with my great personality running the show.

Answer # 1
It should actually say no young kinds. We've had problems in the past with members showing up with little children.
answer # 2
Two reasons: We wanted to close the club for a cooling off period of two weeks before the gun opener. No one wanted to muzzle hunt, and some would rather have an extra week of bow hunting. The members make the rules.
Same as no does the first three weekends of gun season. The rut in our area is then. And it blows my mind that some hunters would come opening weekend and shoot a doe. Not knocking it just saying it makes no sense to most our members.
It is the same when someone ask me how come you are not killing no more than 10 does? An outsider looking in has no idea of our herd like we do. What we are doing has been working. We are not afraid of change, but why shoot yourself in the foot if you know better.

It's sort of like the guys that leased the land next to our two years ago. The first day we met and their first day on their new lease, they were telling me how they were going to shoot every doe they saw. Talking about idiots. They knew nothing of the property nor the deer herd, but they knew what they were doing doing. I just laughed and told them have at it. See what they didn't know: The property is on a county dirt road. Young Mennonite boys cruise up and down the road all year long shooting deer. Also ever other group that has leased the land over the last 10 years has shot up the woods also. It is one of the best looking places around, but the deer only go over there at night and cross back over to our club at day break.
Knowing your land and deer herd is a key to success. Reading a bunch of books on deer management is only the foundation of learning and understanding how to manage your herd.
