Default New toy

Those of you on Facespace have already seen this, but I figured I would post here as well. My dad had a '67 Fastback when he was in high school and I had a '91 coupe, but I've always wanted a '60s Mustang of my own.

Started looking a few weeks ago all over the southeast. Sold the boat, narrowed down my search to a handful of cars and ended up jumping on the first car I found which also happened to be the closest to home.

Body and interior are in really good shape. Mechanically it needs some TLC. Has an exhaust leak on the driver side header, so they'll need replaced and it is way out of tune. Previous owner has the carb/timing all jacked up so we'll be fixing that.

Overall, a really nice driver car. Should be a fun project to tinker with.

1964.5 Mustang Coupe
Original 6cyl car, now has 289 w/ C4 auto
Edelbrock intake, Weber 4 bbl carb, mild cam
Wilwood disc brakes up front

My neck hurts from twisting it sideways to look at your cool car. Congratulations.

Sorry.... I don't know why it always does that. When I post a pic from my phone it turns them.

Love those seats. Now you just need to get a child seat for the back and your good to go.

Yeah...about that. One of the first projects I have to do is to actually add seatbelts to the rear seat. I didn't even think to check for such a thing, but apparently they weren't necessary in 1964.

That's a good reason to not let the kids ride in it.

And I saw where you said the wife could drive it first day of school. Might wanna rethink that one too.

Meh. I bought it for the family to enjoy. Now if she dings it, she'll never get to ride in it again.

the first seat belt law was a federal law, Title 49 of the United States Code, Chapter 301, Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, which took effect on January 1, 1968, that required all vehicles (except buses) to be fitted with seat belts in all designated seating positions.
