Question 26 month health guarantee?

I have always wondered about this so Ima ask right here. Why is 26 the magical #? What happens if the hips go bad at 27 months? Chit out of luck?

I'm pretty sure Bear can get on a forum. Siri can talk to text for him.

I believe it's because that's when a dog is fully matured. Done growing by then and therefore any issues should arise before 2 years old. The same reason why the dogs must be 2 to have OFA's done and such.

I can answer this one from experience. If you get them checked and it is past 26 months, yes you are chit out of luck. You know up front that this is the deal so you better hit that two month window to get the pics taken. I was a few months late getting pictures of a recent dogs hips done. Short story is that I made a plea to the breeder to honor the guarantee, but he was correct in saying "sorry you knew the deal."

It was completely my fault for not getting it done in that two month window. No excuses here. I would have gotten the same results if I had the pictures taken at 24 months or 28 or 36. But a deal is a deal and I knew it up front. The dog was from from a great breeding and I thought the pictures were just going to be a formality. I was wrong. Luck of the draw, learn my lesson and move on.
