Default Father In Law Passed Away

You may remember I posted last month about my father in law being in the hospital. http://www.theoutdoorsplace.net/showthread.php?t=76146

Well, he passed away on Dec 17 about 5PM.

He had managed to make it out of the hospital, and then through a rehab facility. Made it back home for 9 days.

On Sunday the 15th, my wife and I went down to visit and he had taken a downward turn during the night Sat to Sun morning. He was mumbling incoherently and non stop.

His wife called the paramedics and they took him back to Emory Johns Creek Hospital. They kept him in a room in the ER all night, then checked him into ICU Monday morning. When we went to visit Mon night, he was extremely restless and agitated, still mumbling and heart rate was still over 115bpm.

I took some breakfast to his wife and sister in law Tues morning and he seemed a little more relaxed but heart rate was still high.

Things went down hill midday and my Wife got a text Tues around 2PM to come to the hospital and she texted me so I bolted up there. My wife and oldest daughter soon followed and they explained there wasn't anything further they could do and that they wanted to make him comfortable, giving him morphine which would prob trigger him to stop breathing as he relaxed.

I said my goodbyes and headed to Nashville to get my youngest, hoping I might make it back in time, but knowing I wouldn't. Got the news as I was reaching Chattanooga that he had passed away, so kept heading to Nashville to pick up Allison and break the news.

The next few days were a whirlwind planning the funeral, visitation and then the funeral itself.

Going to be a somber Christmas this year.

Appreciate all of you who took the time to send prayers and thoughts our way.
