Default Project that's been in the family for a while

Long story short, my inlaws gave this four wheeler (2003 Yamahe Bear Tracker) to my wife's younger sister 15 years ago as a Christmas gift when they had their lake house and property. They moved to a subdivision, bike got parked and has been ridden VERY sparingly since then. Most of it's hours came from me using it hunting in college. I've tried to buy it before but never could convince them, even after it developed carb issues and wouldn't run right several years ago. You can't tell it from the mud that never got cleaned off but it's basically been garage kept it's entire life. Much better than these craigslist four wheelers down here that have "only been sunk once or twice" and all need work...

Called my sister in law the other day and offered her $300 for diaper money, which she gladly accepted. I figure if I can get it back running right, it'll be a good little hunting club four wheeler.

Short list will be:
New battery
Spark plug
Fuel/air filters
New fuel lines
Rebuild/replace carb (I'll see what it needs, but replacement carbs seem to be pretty cheap)
Valve adjustment

And go from there...

Should be a fun little project.

You'll own a new Polaris in no time.

I wouldn't know what to do with a new four-wheeler. Everything we've ever had has been old and dumpy.

Got everything disassembled last night. Parts should start coming in tomorrow/Saturday to start the rebuild. With any luck, I'll have her going again by the end of the long weekend.

Chit...scrammage is po folk now with 3 chirrens. I don't have side by side money! This beater four wheeler will have to do.

Had a few beers last night and stripped a timing cover screw out ...decided to wait until today to address. Power tools/beer no bueno. After that I should be able to get the valves adjusted and start rebuilding the carb.

I need to buy a new carb for my 4 wheeler and my riding mower. Been putting it off for a while after having them rebuilt several times already

Put it all back together, hit the start button and it fired right up for the first time in 4 years. Still have some bogging issues at full throttle so the carb may come off again...
