Default #2 / Wet Bird!!!!

With all the rain and flooding this year, the odd weather, delayed hatch from last year and oddities this season has been really tough. The sun shined on this dogs rear saturday though! Got on a pair of birds on one of my favorite swamps saturday mornign at about 6:20. Lee (misfire) and I used the fresh green canopy to our advantage and slipped into 75-80 yards of the birds, which gobbled 5-6 times for us on the limb. they pitched down in the flooded swamp and strutted their way in through 2-3" of water right up to our set up. they read the script beautifully, just VERY early! They were on us at 6:50 and it was still dark in the swamp. I could see thier white heads and silhouettte's strutting towards us and they we're drumming back and forth nonstop. I let the first bird pass by me and onto Lee's barrel and I lined up the second bird onto mine with a little soft yelp and purr, he turned and took those final couple of steps strutting into 25 yards. I let him come right on in. Lee's bird putted at something, I looked over and he was looking to my right. He putted again, my bird came out of strut, game over, Let the 20 bark and it was lights out for him, shucked another shell in and bird number 2 stopped right in front. I told Lee to shoot him, not realizing that he couldn't see the bird, after a couple seconds he began to walk off, Lee sent a charge in his direction but it didn't connect and he quickly ran off. Great hunt and it was all over and done before 7:00, wish we could have gotten the double but you take what God gives you some mornings! Just a big 2 year old. 9.5" main beard 5.75" second beard, nice sharp 1" spurs and 18#, granted he was wet. tried to find another bird for Lee but never could get another to fire up for us. The walk out was beautiful as THE PLACE is full of wild Iris which are all blooming.

Made sure he got scolded properly for getting me wet. Bad turkey. Bad!!! Go to the truck!!!!

I imagine GatorB is too butt hole deep in getting Drake through the Grand to comment on flower pics.

Nice bird brother Paul!
