Was running a little late Saturday morning and hiked in with the blind on my back. I got set up in the morning light with birds gobbling all around me. Called and got responses but again, they had somewhere else they wanted to be, and it wasn't with me. After the gobbling stopped around 8:30.. I stayed and called lightly but pretty much continously, yelps, purrs and the occasional cackle. I look to my right and see 2 bobbing red heads coming through the pines.. They reached the logging road before I had time to get my gun up and turned around. Once they saw the decoys, they let out a nice little gobble and did some strutting for me. A few soft yelps on the mouth call had them closing in fast. At 30 yards they started getting spooky so I took my oppertunity and fed one a load of 3" #4's
Unfortuneately the other bird with him was a little bigger,, but also a little smarter, so he lives to fight again

My grandad was orignally from Turner County, and settled in Worth County in Sumner. I was born in Sylvester. Spent a lot of good times down there. Man I miss it.
