Default "any attention to public land is a bad idea"

Agree or disagree?

Seems pretty selfish to me..........The hunter still has to scout, find the birds and kill them.

If somebody makes a general statement that the turkey hunting is good at Piedmont NWR, how in the hell is that "giving up your honey hole"?

Its 37,000 freaking acres for crying out loud

I saw that also. 2 years ago, folks were saying there wasnt nothing but Jakes on that place. Same hunter next year might not even hear a bird in 3 days of hunting

I have seen more turkeys while deer hunting that place than I have EVER seen deer.

Just two years ago I counted a flock of 16 longbeards together.

I think the main thing is, its just alot of land to cover and spread out.

I have a couple public land spots that I don't mention even though they're pretty big. I dont post fishing pictures on woodys or ngto either. Figure most people on here dont fish too much or travel for it. I have a spot at redlands that I would never give directions to but any of my best good friends.

i am against the posting of public land spots on the world wide web.

sure its public.

yea its so many thousand million acres.

but after you deal with enough idiots, or the right idiot you will withdraw any action, word spoken, or thing posted, that might lead to a further increase in more idiot encounters.

i dont understand why anyone would want to encourage the unsafe, uneducated, idiot world of """hunters""" that lurk the internet to come to a place theyve had success.

if i see and hear someone blowing a duck call at cormorants, or in this case someone hackin on a box call every 5 minutes for two hours i dont want them being there a result of my desire to brag or show and tell of my spot/property.

i told one person about a spot to shoot ducks on a wma. it was a huge mistake. i keep my mouth shut now.

Welllllll Piedmont is a little bit differnt in the fact that it's a quota hunt AND it's 37,000 acres.

I've been drawn for the Turkey hunt on 2 seperate years. While it is public land not just anyone can go out there at any time. Also they are gonna draw 300 people for that hunt no matter how many people you do or do not tell about THE PLACE. Regardless they will be 300 people hunting 37,000 acres. And if someone gets drawn for the hunt and I didn't yes I would tell them what I know about it (why not). Now if I did get drawn for it NO I would not tell anyone about what I know (I'm selfish like that)..

As far as deer & turkey hunting goes all of the harvest info is readily available as well as which areas are more likely to produce a wall-hanger buck so there are not a lot of secret WMA's out there anymore. That said, I try not to mention public hunting areas by name on GON anymore because I end up getting a bunch of PM's from folks just " wanting to make sure they are around some turkeys. "

I don't worry about naming places on here so much because of the smaller size of the site and the fact that prolly 95% of the members here hunt mostly on private land.
