Default I am simply amazed

At what some people call a "duck dog" or hunting retriever in general

Sure makes me feel a lot better about my mutt lol.

after reading some of the crap I read on GON, sometimes I feel even with her yelping and trying to break on the line, she would handle better in the field than a lot of dogs out there that some guys thinks are "finished"

Wow! I didn't realize that some hunting dogs out there don't even have the foundation done on what all else is built!

And the arguing with PROS that have PROVEN track records??!! SERIOUSLY??!!

pretty much

there are a ton of half-assed dogs out there....mine included. there are not a lot of good trainers out there. it takes a special sort to do it well, and do it well often enough to make the difference. sure, mine will get my ducks. he will point quail, bloodtrail deer. but, he might just act a fool at any given time. he is not to be trusted. why? because i am not a good trainer. sure, i have taught them a lot, and they can do some amazing work at times...some days they look like a million bucks...some days i come close to shooting them. they are what they are...a work in progress.

i have seen very few dogs that actually did exactly what they supposed to do 99.5 percent of the time , while hunting. none of us humans are perfect. same for dogs.

I see it every time I go to a training day. I can only think they are the same way in the field, on a hunt.

Allie will never be one of those dogs but I feel pretty confident that she is better than a half assed trained dog that hasn't even been completely force fetched.

I know one thing for sure. If she goes and gets it, it will be delivered back to hand with her at heel, then sit, every time. That much I would bet on! Her steadiness leaves a lot to be desired though and I'm at wits end over that.

There are PLENTY of good trainers around these parts if you've got the money.

Those guys are idiots. WTF is the one guy talking about backing his trailer into the water and feeding the dog treats? That's got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Watermedic just keeps on burying himself deeper and deeper.

If I'm wrong or off base with anything I've said to him, by all means someone correct me. I don't mind an occasional "shut up Gimp, you're a dumbass" if its warranted.
