Default My story

The alarm went off at 4:00am,, Hit the snooze one time, 4:10 I was cussing myself for hitting the snooze
Quick shower and got dressed, 40 minute drive to the property. It's mid to low 40's, dead calm, after a night of drizziling rain. Got all settled in my climber down in the creek bottom 25' up in a poplar at 5:45am. At 6:30am a buck comes off the north ridge, down in to the creek, up and out the south face @ 30 yards.... still to dark to shoot but, I can tell it's a buck by the big body and white rack reflecting in the darkness.
I sit uneventful until 9am when I see a buck skirting the south ridge face @ 50yards moving at a fast pace. He goes 20 yards past me, turns around and goes 50 yards back then comes back to the same spot and then goes back, this time disappearing in to the thick briars. While I scan desperately to see him I see another stud buck 150 yards out in the clear cut making his way towards the creek bottom. After 30 minutes of nothing I hit the Primos can a couple times and like a run away train a good buck comes off the ridge and is suddenly 60 yards from me scanning the bottom looking for whatever made that sound. He was moving at a fast pace and I didn't have any time to count points, I just knew I saw a lot of them
I come to full draw and bleat at him and he stops behind a tree, the wait seemed like forever but was only a minute. He takes off again and I bleat at him and he stops, broadside @ what I guessed was 30 yards. I pick my spot and let the Easton A/C Injextion fly. The Slick Trick blew through like a hot knife through butter.
The buck jumped about 10 yards and stood there like a statue behind a tree, covering most of his body. I could see the entry hole and the hair was turning a dark red. He took a few steps and disappeared in to the thicket.
By now it's 10:15 and I have a land owner meeting @ noon an hour and a half away. I climb down, find my arrow and take up the trail for a couple 30 yards when I see him laying there looking at me. He jumps up and runs off,, Taking my heart and stomach with him.
I head to the truck, change cloths and drive off to my meeting with a thousand scenarios running through my mind. I was sick to say the least.
On the way I called a few of my cohorts and one was available to meet me at the property at 2pm. So we meet up and take up the trail. Little specks of blood here and there but nothing that gave much hope.
After 30 minutes of following the trail I see antlers crashed against a tree down in the briars. I cant express the relief I had in finding this buck. He's not the biggest and probably not what most would think when they talk about Ohio but, I'll take it

WTG, Frank, nice Buck.

That's a good feeling to find him, both dead & intact.

Green scored him last night at 146 5/8. He's going to have a lot of deductions. 15 scoreable points, 11 main with 4 stickers 1" or longer, 17 1/2" inside spread, 23" main beams, he just doesn't carry any mass.
Body weight was guesstimated around 230-250ish

Who cares? I killed a 155 gross main frame 7 point that would have scored 120 net. Guess what? I tell folks my biggest is a 155. Congrats on your mid 140s!
