Default Thinking of ditching my 12 gauge

Naw, wait. I already did that. Maybe I'll dump the 20 gauge and go to a 28. I hunted most of last year with a .410 anyhow. I don't think I need to tote the big 20 anymore.

300 hits in a 10 inch circle is way overkill. I only got 180 with the .410 and it smokes 'em. Might as well do a 28ga for the big gun. Pros? Cons?

Don't have any idea.....I have a buddy who shoots a 10 ga 3.5 in.........double barrel! You know when you shoot it!

Maybe try a muzzleloader?

I’m sure you know what a 1.5 oz load of 9’s out of a 28ga will do.

Some of those 28s are less than five pounds. I'd like to watch someone else throw 1.5oz outta one. Good point about there not being a difference when there are heavier 28ga loads available.

I think anyway you look at it, 1.25oz loads are plenty. Just depends on how heavy a gun you want to use.

Figure a 2oz load of lead sixes is 444 pellets. T10s will kill to fifty. Going up in size extends range ten yards per increase in size, if you can hold the pattern.

The 28’s seem to throw really nice patterns. Very comparable to a 20.
