Its 20 years old man and how MANY miles? Unless you are buying Japanese, you might as well expect to do all that over 20 years

I think Ford wanted close to 3k to put a rear end in my F150. Some buddies helped me rebuild mine for around $400-500 in parts. We replaced both chunk bearings, the pinion bearing, wheel bearings, all new seals, checked the lash, and filled it back up with royal purple. We reused my existing chunk and pinion gear. It took us a full day to do all of this.

If the backside of a bearing race starts to slip in the axel housing for too long you might compromise your housing.

Good luck.

Well... The *******s at Midas in Covington effed my rear end up... They had to pull it out to replace the front gasket.... They didn't put it back in right.... Well.... long story short, they denied effing it up...and I was stuck with it. Drove around for 15K miles on it till I found a guy that would do the work for what I thought was reasonable price.

Found a guy to put a used rear end in for $900 The used rear end had 140K on it. Ford rear ends are the best in the industry.

My truck just rolled over 304K and if those *******s hadn't of screwed up my original rear end up, it would still be fine.

I currently have 207K. New motor at 187K and rebuilt transmission at 192k and rear end at 207K. Spent 1200 in new shocks and front end work last year. Paid 5K for it in 2006 when it had 182K

Not sure why you are surprised at that as its not that uncommon. You are still way ahead over paying 50 thousand for a new one and still having to do that down the road

Sounds like it's time for you to learn how to do your own mechanical work

Bought it from a friend who had just bought it at a auction in Sandersville. Isn't that normally how it works with good friends😂

Who's gonna recommend a truck (or buy it) that you just said was a lemon POS?

The entire truck is now made up of new parts not much left that can go wrong and the motor is still under warranty!
