My wife is not 5'2" or anywhere near 100 lbs. I'm going to let her decide what feels right for her. She has shot several large handguns well and will no doubt pick one that will suit her best. I've been looking at the XD40 for myself. Not fully decided on a conceal carry gun. I like the Glock 42. I may talk to Fatty about his LCP.

I'd shop at Hi Caliber and/or Big Woods Goods in Holly Springs, I was in both yesterday and they have a good assortment of pistols.

But after I found what I wanted, I would buy from Cherokee Gun, they will be the cheapest but they will also be packed. It's hard to shop there because of the small space.

Hi Caliber and Big Woods both rent pistols too.

That is where I was going to let her shoot a couple that she likes. The Probate office said they have been processing 60-80 applications daily for the past several months. Cherokee county will be well armed!

If you go to Big Woods, pick me up that Hoyt Nitrum that they have for 20% off.

I'd like a new bow, just don't want to pay $1000 for one.

Strangely enough, the only wheelie gun option Hi Caliber has for rent is the Taurus Judge

Ive been wanting to check that range out.

I've never shot at either (or any range), but more people seem to shoot at Big Woods than Hi Caliber and they are about a mile or so apart

Weight dampens recoil. Why do you think your wife needs a light gun?

Sorry Gris but I disagree. Women tend to carry lots of small crap in their purse. For an experiment take a stick of un-chewed gum and gently push it between the cylinder and the frame of 'the lil' ladies' gun and let her pull the trigger. I bet the cylinder wont index when she pulls the triger.

As far as semi-s jamming. If the lil' woman doesn't have the presence of mind to clear a jam, she shouldn't be pulling a concealed carry weapon as its probably going to be taken away and used on her. Women that have trained with semi's can handle them well. With the appropriate semi and training, they tend to have much better shooting skills than with revolvers.

Maybe the macho's are putting their wives at risk providing them a gun and a false sense of security as opposed to adequate training from those that know how to train.

Maybe its a man not making sure the semi is properly maintained. Maybe its a man not making sure its the correct semi for the woman and she has the proper gun handling knowledge. Maybe its a man not helping the lil' woman find the right ammo for that semi to digest.

I have helped train hundreds of women, only one couldn't operate a semi. She had arthritis so bad that she couldn't rack the slide and she was 88 years old. The old opinion that women shouldn't shoot semis as they cant handle them or they tend to fail more is held only by those living in the past with lack of knowledge and training.

I wound up with a S&W Shield 9mm for myself and bought the wife a Glock 43. I am now looking for a good IWB holster for my shield. Any suggestions?
