Opening day!

Hunted at the house today. I figured I would bump deer going in so I got to the tree super early to give everything time to settle. About 5:00 I have deer all around me. 2 smaller bucks out front grunting and fighting each other. This goes in for 20 minutes when I hear something else coming and itís pissed. In the moonlight I could make out it was the big buck Iím after and heard him thrash one of the other bucks and they hauled azz. He proceeded to destroy a pine sapling 5yds in front of my stand. About 30 min before daylight I hear deer filtering back in and then heard a crunch over my left shoulder...downwind. Doe blew at me for 5 min, clearing out every deer, and then fed through right in front of my stand like she had no clue...

Saw a small 8 point right after daylight but not the one Iím after. I think Iím going to start focusing on afternoons in that stand for a bit.

Freaking crossbow scope...

The only spots where you could make anything out weíre in the holes where the canopy let the moonlight through. Every other spot was pitch black dark. He never stopped in a moonlight spot.

In total I saw 8 bucks and 2 does this am.

Headed into the same stand as last weekend. Moon was directly overhead of my stand and deer were feeding in the flat so I sat next to a tree to wait in daylight to keep from getting busted climbing in. Had a decent body buck walk 10yds in front of me in the dark. Right After daylight, I snuck in my stand and within 30 sec a decent 8pt buck showed. Doe came in trying to bust me but I boogered her trying to get the camera on her and get the bow ready. She caught movement but never busted, just left. Had several other smaller bucks all come cruising through quickly, licking their lips and noses to the ground. I think the pre-rut is in full swing here. Thinking about taking Dawson back in there this evening.

My big yard buck got killed by my neighbors grandson Friday afternoon. Little chit shot him on the way to my bait pile. Finally got a shooter on camera on my bow tract. Might actually go hunting once the 90 degree temps move out

Not because it was too hot just didnít want to sit in the tree Kid had him green scored today at 126 gross. He was a old buck Iíve had pictures of him since 2014. He scored better this year than last. Last year he was missing a G3

Pretty cool “hunt” this evening. It’s been drizzling rain all day. I had a hunch that the pressure change would have the deer on their feet but the wife was committed to something after work. Came home, cooked dinner, got a ping from my cell cam as we were getting up from the table at 6:50. It was a doe. Decided to throw on my leafy suit and try to sneak in, thinking a buck might show at dark. Had a dink and this decent buck show up right at dark. I was sitting on the ground and they came within 20 yds. Thought about shooting but he stayed behind a palmetto until it was too dark to see. Got the blood pumping. Waited until it was dark and eased out.
