Thank you for your insights when I was putting this together Russ. MT was a much better option than WY.

Wow, trip of a lifetime for sure, your dad looks like he was really enjoying himself. It's amazing that 82 year old is still climbing those hills, I am betting that's what has kept him in that shape to do this at this ripe old age. You will remember this the rest of your life Red

Sure looks like a fun trip. An elk is my #1 4 legged animal. I am gonna go one of these days

Very true. I recommend that folks be able to walk briskly at 3.5-4 mph for 8 miles. Your not going to do that in the woods, but what you feel at 7-8 miles will be what you feel at about 3 at the attitude.

FYI, AZ and NM aren't that demanding except for the pocket book.
