I'm with y'all. I think its an age thing. I won't say I will not hunt out of a lock on, but I hardly ever do. I did buy a harness this year, for that reason, but I never did hang one. Used the climber every hunt.

I've thought about using climbing sticks and hang a climber instead of a lock on. I know to many that have fallen out of them too because of cables or straps breaking. Just seems climbers are a little stronger. As far as sticks, i like Summits swifTree.

I have an open front Summit climber that I made a Slip in front rail. It's hung & strapped in a big evergreen and is 25' up. I feel as safe in that thing as I do in any climber. I have the Summit swift tree climbing steps and slip the front bar in place and secure it with hitch pins. I know it's not structurally strong like the rest of the stand but it does give me a secure feeling.. and I've killed a lot of deer out of that stand. We've named it the killing tree

Thats what i'm talkin bout! I'd just rather do that than depend on the skinny cable's lock ons have.

I don't do lock ons. I hunt out of a climber 90% of the time. The other 10% is either OTG or in tower stands.

Part of that is because I don't feel secure in loc ons and the other part is because I'm cheap. I can hunt anywhere I want with 1 climber. I don't have to put multiple stands up all over THE PLACE.
