Default Hometown Kid is Ripping It Up

Seth Beer, a kid from Lambert that should still be a SR (enrolled at Clemson early) is 2nd in the nation in homers. Hit a bomb at UGA to tie the game and extend his hitting streak to 25 games to quiet the hecklers. Great kid and a Beast.

Quote:
He entered the game with a .422 batting average, 38 hits, 12 home runs, 37 RBI and a .911 slugging percentage. He finished 2 for 3 with a home run, a single and three RBI against the Bulldogs—the first team to recruit him.

Man, that's great Fatty. I remember you talking about him last year. That's impressive to be doing that as a freshman!

Awesome

I was really surprised Seth enrolled in college early and bypassed a chance at getting drafted, but his Mom said he is adamant about wanting to make sure he gets an education. Guess you can't argue with that.

Spencer threw his first complete game today. A 8 hit shutout. He's 6-3 on a bad 22-30 team. The White Sox acquired Jamie Shields in a trade this week and word was the Padres wanted Spence in return but the Sox wouldn't part with him.

Future looks bright!

Wonder why he chose Clemson over UGA? He needs to go pro after this season!

Can't be drafted until after his JR season now since he went to a 4 year college.

Part of signing a HS kid is that the MLB team must also pay for his college if he decides to return to college.

Spencer threw a Maddux gem last night for the AA Barons. 2 hr 11 minute 1-0 win. Complete game 3 hitter. Gave up 3 singles, 8 strikeouts, 1 walk. 10 groundouts vs 3 fly outs. 94 pitches, 70 strikes

The boy was dealing.

If he was with the Braves he might get to start next week at Suntrust Feld!
