Set out 28 blueberry bushes today.

Dug up 28 blueberry chutes last night, from a friends house. Set them out today, now I've gotta get baskets around them to keep the deer off of em. Should be able to get decent amount of berries in 3-4 years. :tampa:

What variety?

Some varieties when fully matured can produce 6000-7000 lbs a acre.

Several different varieties. Some are very big berries, & some are small & very sweet. My buddy told me that these were set out over 30 years ago, & he only remembered the name of one of the varieties, & I forgot what he told me. The bushes that he has are 10' - 12' tall, & are usually loaded with berries.

Let me know when you're coming. They will probably do best to be dug up right before you take them.

Nothing at all as long a they stay in GA. I heard about blueberries one time but never experienced them myself. I do know a guy that knows a guy that controls all blueberry exports and marketing of them for this whole state. He lives in Swainsboro

Probably Climax if I had to guess. The bigger are probably premier. Both have been around for that long.

I'll ask him this week, but I remember him telling me one time, that there were several different varieties when he set them out. He told me the other day that he couldn't remember the names of any but 1, & I can't remember what it was. I've been picking berries off of his bushes for years & my mother-in-law makes some awesome blueberry cakes out of em. Wished I'd have gotten these chutes about 7-8 years ago when he first told me to get as many as I wanted.

There are so many new varieties now days that I gave up trying to keep up with them. As long as the growers that are in my export programs are doing what they are suppose to then I don't worry with what types. Which I'm dealing with 500 acre blueberry farms producing around 300,000 lbs a year.
